About Us: Sharing Japan’s Hidden Sake Traditions with Canada
As the official Canadian representative of Jizake Japan, we are proud to introduce a rich and diverse portfolio of craft sake from across Japan. Jizake Japan is a consortium of over 40 small to medium-sized sake breweries, each deeply rooted in their local culture and traditions. Established in 1975 and headquartered in Tokyo, the organization was formed with a shared mission: to preserve and advance the art of sake brewing while supporting one another in both technological development and market outreach.
While many of these breweries are located in remote regions rarely visited by international travelers, their craftsmanship is nothing short of world-class. Jizake Japan exists to ensure these remarkable sake producers are not only seen but celebrated on the global stage. Since beginning exports in 2000, the consortium has brought premium sake to markets around the world, including the United States, Taiwan, Korea, the United Kingdom, Mainland China—and now, proudly, Canada.
In Canada, our mission is more than just distribution. We are committed to spreading knowledge and appreciation for sake as both a cultural tradition and an evolving craft. We aim to introduce Canadians to the diversity of sake—from delicate and aromatic styles to bold, umami-rich expressions—while shining a spotlight on the people and places behind each bottle.
By connecting Canadian consumers, restaurants, and retailers with these regional brewers, we are not only supporting authentic Japanese craftsmanship but also enriching the dialogue between two cultures through taste, tradition, and shared values.
